This year we will cover three science units : Animals, Properties and Weather. We will start off the school year with our study of animals. Students will observe and investigate goldfish, ants, and bugs! Together we will create a habitat for these animals as we learn about their basic needs and how those needs are met.
First Grade Science Standards: 1. Scientific Investigation- apply the processes of scientific investigation and design, conduct, communicate about and evaluate such investigations
2. Physical Science- know and understand common properties, forms and changes in matter and energy
3. Life Science- know and understand the characteristics and structure of living things, the processes of life, and how living things intact with each other and their environment
4. Earth and Space Science- know and understand the process and interactions of Earth's systems and the structure of Earth and other objects in space
5. The Nature of Science-understand that the nature of science involves a particular way of building knowledge and making meaning of that world
